I am Nicole Deggins, a writer, an educator, a coach and an advocate. I am a daughter, a sister, a student and a teacher. I am a traveler, a dancer, and a true free spirit. I’m a talker and a listener, a friend and a confidant. I am a dreamer and a believer, a lover of life, a child birth enthusiast, and woman’s advocate. I LOVE the miracle of birth. I LOVE birth stories, and I LOVE helping women achieve the birthing experience THEY desire.

I started my professional career with my Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Georgetown University in 1994. I advanced my career by completing a dual degree program at Emory University in 1999 where I fulfilled the requirements for the Master of Science in Nursing with a concentration in Midwifery and the Master of Public Health with a concentration in Health Policy and Management.

Over the years I have practiced in public and private settings, in small and large hospitals all across the country in many states including: Louisiana, Mississippi, Colorado, California (Northern, Southern, and Central Valley), Maryland, D.C., Minnesota, New Hampshire, Georgia and many more. Regardless of the city, state, or hospital setting, I have found maternity care in our country is flawed.

Women, the most important participant in the process of pregnancy and childbirth, are often misguided, mistreated, and ill-informed. I have heard countless stories from women who say to me… “If only I had known…” my birthing experience could have/would have been different... better in some way. While these stories always remind me I have work to do, I am continuously INSPIRED by the many women who have taken control of their birth experiences. I have been blessed to witness a couple of THOUSANDS of births, and each birth inspires me in a new and different way.

Today, drawing from my varied experiences, and using my passion for birth and women’s advocacy, my mission is to provide YOU with the personalized support and information you need to help you create the satisfying birthing experience you deserve AND desire.
