What We Believe About Pregnancy & Birth

We believe pregnancy and birth are the most beautiful natural wonders of the world. They are normal life events, and should be regarded as such.

We believe the midwifery model of care is the best model of care for low risk women and it should be universally adopted throughout our maternity care system.

We believe women should be given truthful information about birth options including birth settings and interventions.

We believe the current climate of maternity care and prenatal education in this country is designed to undermine a woman’s rights, personal power, autonomy, choices and her trust in her innate abilities to grow and birth her baby.

We believe a woman can have a satisfying experience regardless of her birth setting: hospital, her home, or a free standing birth center.

We believe the induction and cesarean rates in our country are too high and women have a right to a normal, no/low-intervention birth.

We believe women are strong individuals with the ability to birth their infants without unnecessary interference from the medical model of maternity care.

We believe the medicalization of pregnancy and birth are harming women and infants and that the medical management of pregnancy and birth should be reserved for women with real medical indications.

We believe with the proper support, guidance and information any woman can be empowered to Birth Something Beautiful™
